Subject List Class 10th
NIOS is the largest open schooling system under Union Government of India for Secondary and Senior Secondary students. It is a board of Central Government. Minimum age limit of Secondary Examination is 14 years and there is no maximum age limit. Previous education qualification may be 5thclass but one requirement is the candidate must be able to read and write one of the languages listed in the board’s subjects list. Examinations are held twice a year and everything is like other board examinations and the prescribed syllabus is almost the same as per as with other regular boards in India. This course is equivalent to 10th class compared to other boards in India. You can choose subjects from the scheme of subjects available in NIOS board. You must choose at least one language subject with the other four subjects to get certified from NIOS. The subject list for class 10th is categorized into 2 groups- Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
Group A
Group ‘A’ Contains Language Subjects Which Are Listed Like:

- English (Theory)
- Urdu (Theory)
- Sanskrit (Theory)
- Bengali (Theory)
- Marathi (Theory)
- Telegu (Theory)
- Gujrati (Theory)
- Kannada (Theory)
- Punjabi (Theory)
- Assamese (Theory)
- Nepali (Theory)
- Malayalam (Theory)
- Oriya (Theory)
- Arabic (Theory)
- Persian (Theory)
- Tamil (Theory)
Group B
Group ‘B’ Contains All Other Than Language Subjects Which Are Listed Like:
- Mathematics (Theory and Practical)
- Science and Technology (Theory and Practical)
- Social Science (Theory)
- Economics (Theory)
- Business Studies (Theory)
- Home Science (Theory and Practical)
- Psychology (Theory)
- Indian Culture and Heritage (Theory and Practical)
- Accountancy (Theory)
- Painting (Theory and Practical)
- Data Entry and Operations (Theory and Practical)
At least five subjects with one or two language subjects from Group A and the rest from Group B to be chosen by every candidate under Secondary Course Structure. Two more additional subjects may be chosen from both of those groups above. But this will need additional fees as per as NIOS norms. You can choose the maximum seven subjects from above all.
